Andy Shoe's Scuttlebutts

The NFL draft is going on right now and those people that are big fans of their favorite team are in hopeful heaven. I don't get it. It has been a thing with me for a long time as I watch top draft choices that really can't play in the NFL. I think back at one of the most obvious first rounders by the name of Ryan Leaf. What a flop and on the other hand Brett Farve wasn't drafted until the second round. I think it is a complete gamble and people that think a team drafts based on scouting are in denial. If you are one of those people I am sorry if I have shed some light on the dark space you occupy. Look, the fact is that no matter how your team drafts, first or last, the young whipper snapper is still going to have to learn how to play in the NFL. I don't care what college he came from or who coached him in college, the NFL is still a big leap up from the NCAA. Congratulations to Sam Braddford as now he will get a big contract based on how he played in college. Finally college athletes are getting paid to play. They don't get a check, at least above the table, in college but they more then make up for it on a signing bonus. I heard someone talking about a fifty million dollar signing bonus for Mr. Braddford and he hasn't taken a snap in the NFL. That would like be hiring someone and promoting them to the head of your company Solly based on what someone whispered in you ear in a dream. I am a fan of football and I have hopes for my team The Chicago Bears, but I am not going to predict a Super Bowl win based on the draft picks The Bears pick up. In conclusion I don't want to sound like a hater but I have to say those of you that are holding your breath in anticipation of your teams next pick are just going to turn blue and pass out. So breath!!

  1. As for Bradford himself, I'm just amazed he was such a clear-cut #1 pick after not even playing 3 full games last year. Plus, a #1 guy only gets that big of a signing bonus, just because he was drafted #1, but say the Rams would have needed a defensive end instead of a QB, and they had drafted Nblahblahblah Suh. It would be Suh with the $50M signing bonus instead of the peanuts he'll earn as a lowly #2 overall draft pick. I guess the point is, who is the better FOOTBALL PLAYER in that discussion?
