Pierre finished 5th at the West River Invitational Golf tournament that played it’s final 18 holes yesterday at the Meadowbrook Golf Course in Rapid City. The Governors fired a 36 hole total 676, one shot behind Sturgis for 4th place. Watertown won the tournament with a 619, 9 strokes better than runner up Rapid City Stevens. Josh Weismantel of Watertown was individual medalist with a 36 hole score 147. Zach Smalley of Pierre had a two round total 156 to finish in a 3 way tie for 6th. Other Pierre scores: Willie Welch 166, John Breckenridge 176, Kieren Gray 179, Hans Leong 183 and Tyler Smith 195.
Pierre boys soccer team defeated Yankton 4-1 last night. The Pierre JV’s were beaten 2-1. In the girls match, Pierre and Yankton played to a 2-2 tie. Yankton won the JV match 4-2. Pierre is at Brookings today.
