Rod's Saturday Morning Sports
The Pierre Governor tennis team finished 3rd yesterday at the ESD Conference tennis tournament that was won by defending champion Watertown. Mitchell was second in the final team standings with Aberdeen Central 4th. Connor Forney lost in the title match at number 1 singles. Hans Leong also lost in the championship match at number 2 singles. Nathan Ellenbecker took third place at number 3 singles. Jarred Smith was 5th at number 4 singles. And Connor Shoup was runner up at number 6 singles. Forney and Leong won third place at number 1 doubles. Ellenbecker and Smith won the number 2 doubles flight title and Shoop and Vockrodt took 5th place at number 3 doubles. Pierre tallied 227 points. Watertown scored 277 to win the title. Pierre has not won a ESD title since 1991.
