Rod's Sunday

The Pierre Governor wrestling team won all 4 matches it wrestled on Saturday and won the championship of the Watertown “Dual “ Invitational wrestling tournament. The Governors opened the day with a 52-15 win over Milbank. The Govs then downed Watertown 42-20 and Milbank 51-20 to set them up against Mitchell in the title match won by the Governors 45-17. The Governors had Tanner Monfore at 103, Caleb Stoltenburg at 119, Dusty Paulson at 125 and Chancy Riggle at 215 all go 4-0 on the day for the Governors who travel to Rapid City to compete in the Rapid City Invitational on Friday and Saturday.

The Pierre-Ft. Pierre Capitals boys hockey team split a pair of games in their two game series with Huron over the Weekend. After opening with a 5-2 win over Huron on Friday, the Capitals had the tables turned on them Saturday as Huron defeated Pierre-Ft. Pierre 5-1. On Friday Lucas Lindholm scored twice to lead the Capitals offense. James Gilkerson, Andrew Leif and Max Hanson also scored and Cody Bishop made 36 saves in goal. On Saturday, Huron jumped out to a 3-0 lead before Josh Rogers scored tan unassisted goal in he Capitals lone goal in the 5-1 loss. Huron had a pair of power play goals in the game and Bishop made 29 saves on Saturday. The Capitals are 1-1-0 in league play and 4-1-2 overall on the season. The Capitals JV’s posted a 7-1 win over Huron on Friday but were shutout 3-0 on Saturday.

Steph Paluch scored 5 points and Katie Lingle did not score in SDSU's loss to North Dakota State in basketall on Saturday night. Michael Tveidt scored 13 points in NDSU's win over South Dakota State in the men's game. And Pierre's Sam Willard scored 22 points to lead Pacific in a 20 points loss to Texas A & M on Saturday
