Darren Boyle's weekly words of wisdom. Hail Zigy! The wicked coach is gone

This past Sunday I drove to the farm as I usually do and happened to see my brother Wes. If you know him, you know he bleeds purple. He is ten times the Vikings fan I am. So I mentioned to him that Syndey Rice had decided to grace the Metrodome with his presence, my response from Wes was "WHO CARES"! Aparently thats what most fans were thinking. Thats why Brad had to go.

But why didnt this happen sooner? Arent all these owners great businessmen, and should be great judges of leadership? Did it have to take so long to notice that Brad Childress wasnt much of a leader? This isnt the first time something like this has happened in the world of sports. You would just think that if someone had made 600 million so they could spend 600 million to own a team you would hope they were better at reading people. Think about that the next time you buy stock.

And if you were Brad Childress what were you thinking? You knew you were on thin ice after your team had such a poor start, then after your owner spent some money to get you a wide reciever you cut him because he complained about food. If you are going to be out on the ice you better know when to go back to shore and Childress didnt.

Just a thought, could Randy Moss have his hand in getting two coaches fired this season? Keep an eye on things with the Titans.

How long will Farve hang around? That is the next burning question.

Congratulations to the Highmore Harrold Pirates on their sixth place finish at the State B Volleyball tourney. This was my first season covering volleyball and after I got the hang of things I really had a blast. Hope you guys enjoyed our coverage.

  1. Well said Mr. Boyle. Just saw the Frazier press conference and he said Favre will still be the quarterback. Its about time Zygi pulled the trigger on Chlidress, this was long overdue. And I'm glad Leslie Frazier is getting a chance to head coach. The players respect him and they will play hard for him as well.

  2. If you think about it, the Cowboys made their change after dropping to 1-7. That's when desperation sets in, because you can conceivably make the playoffs with a 9-7 record, with the hope and prayer that you win your last 8 games. So far, not too bad for the 'Boys. The Vikings have now suffered their 7th loss, so they're in the same boat finally. Desperation sets in, and now the Vikings have to hope they can win their last 8 games and finish 9-7. Too bad for both of these teams that other teams like the Bears, Bucs and Giants, if not the Packers, Falcons and Eagles, are going to have to have monumental collapses in order to pave the way for the Vikings or Cowboys to earn an NFC wildcard berth.

For what it's worth, the Vikings play at Washington this weekend. The Skins have a weak pass defense, so don't be surprised if Favre and Rice start clicking in this next game, especially since everyone probably has a new refreshed attitude now.
