The Pierre Governor Football team had two seniors earn Academic All State honors while Stanley County had one. The South Dakota Football Coaches Association announced the award winners yesterday. Seniors Joe Tetzlaff and Joe Snyder from Pierre are on the Class 11AA squad while Stanley County's Thomas Tolton made the 9AA squad. To be eligible for the award the recipients must have played or managed football for 3 years, maintain a 3.5 grade point average and be a senior

The Pierre Lady Capitals Varsity Hockey team has a new head coach this season. Christine Hockett takes over for Tom Smith who moved to an assistant coaching position in the boys program. Hockett coached previously in the Brookings Rangers program and played for the Lady Rangers during her career. She takes over a squad that finished 3rd last year at the State tournament and lost only a handful of seniors to graduation. The Lady Capitals dropped their opening game of the season last weekend losing 3-2 to Mitchell. This weekend is the Senior Showcase in Brookings and Liz Knutson, the only senior on this year's Lady Capitals team is taking part.

A Pierre soccer player will sign his letter of intent to attend college to continue his soccer career today. Micheal Hardwick, a senior at Riggs High School and a member of this fall's Pierre Governor soccer team will be attending Dakota Wesleyan next year and take part in the DWU men's soccer program.

4 former soccer standouts for Pierre Riggs High School were named to the All Great Plains Athletic Conference squad from Dakota Wesleyan earlier this week. Senior midfielder Eric Christensen of Pierre was named to the GPAC First Team All Conference squad while senior Dane Hagen of Pierre earned Honorable Mention honors from the GPAC. Christensen and Hagen were two of just 3 seniors on the Dakota Wesleyan squad. Two former Pierre Lady Gov players also earned GPAC All Conference honors. Sophomore's Yutzil Rodreguez and Linsey Petersen earned GPAC All Conference First Team Honors. It was the second year that both players earned post season All Conference honors.

Mark Saturday December 3rd down on your schedule for the first Pierre Post 8 American Legion All You Can Eat Pancake and Sausage Feed of the off season. The All You Can Eat Breakfast will be served from 7 am to 11 am for just $3 per person. All proceeds raised from the benefit breakfast will go to help fund the Pierre Post 8 American Legion and Teener baseball teams.
