The Harrisburg School Board discussed joining the ESD Conference at it's meeting last night but did not make a decision regarding the move. The ESD Conference officially invited the Harrisburg School District to join the longtime conference at a meeting last week. Harrisburg school board officials discussed the other schools in the conference and the mileage between communties at last night's meeting. They are expected to make an official decision whether or not to join the ESD Conference at their April 9th school board meeting. If Harrisburg joins the conference, they will become the ninth team in the league joining Aberdeen Central, Brandon Valley, Brookings, Huron, Mitchell, Pierre, Watertown and Yankton.

Former longtime Mitchell boys’ basketball coach Gary Munsen underwent successful hip-replacement surgery Monday morning. Munsen, who has been struggling with a bad hip for several years, had surgery at Avera Queen of Peace Hospital in Mitchell. Munsen will start physical therapy today, and he expects to make a full recovery in about six weeks. The longtime coach finished his career with 902 wins — boys and girls combined — after retiring from Mitchell after the season that ended just a few weeks ago at the Class AA state tournament. Munsen listed heath and family for the main reasons he wanted to step down.

Player sign-ups for Pierre Post 8 American Legion and Teener baseball players will be Monday from 5:15 p.m. to 6:45 p.m. at the Pierre Post 8 American Legion cabin's community room. If this will be a players first summer with the Post 8 Teeners or Legion teams, please bring a copy of the player's birth certificate for their records. The initial registration fee is $25, and players will receive their raffle tickets to sell: $250 apiece for 13-14s; $300 apiece for 15-16s; and $350 apiece for American Legion. The South Dakota State United States Bowling Congress Hall of Fame has announced its inductees for 2012. The inductees will be recognized at the annual Bowling Jamboree and Honors Banquet on July 27th and 28th at the Ramkota in Pierre. Inductees for this year include Scott Stabnow, of Pierre; Patty Fanter, of Rapid City; Gayle Bussell, of Huron; Douglas Thompson, of Aberdeen; Brandy Foreman, of Rapid City; Bill and Cheryl Cooper, of Sioux Falls; John Zilverberg, of Highmore; Julie Johnson, of Huron; Jenny Day, of Yankton; and Ryan Dufour, of Pierre.

The Stanley County Youth Wrestling Club will be having a benefit lunch this Sunday at McClellands Restraunt in Ft. Pierre. The "Grapplin Up Grub" fundraiser includes Fried Chicken with mash potatoes and gravy, Green Beans and dessert. All proceeds from the fundraiser will go towards the construction of a new wrestling room at Stanley County High School.
