Rod's Monday Take

In the spirit of the season I deliver hope to Minnesota Vikings Nation. Fear not, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great coming football joy. Despite the fact that the Vikings stunk last night, the light not on the tree, but at the end of the tunnel shines on Chicago. For that Vikings believers is where the Vikings play next. On Monday night, the Vikings, who have stunk on national TV in their last two primetime night games play the Chicago Bears who have really stunk all 3 times they have played night games in prime time on national TV. The football gods will deliver to you, Vikings nation, Jay Cutler, the quarterback that will help you forget about last night. And two weeks ago last night. Jay Cutler, the most overpaid, overrated quarterback in all of the league. Where oh where is Rex Grossman when we need him. 3 more interceptions yesterday before getting benched at Baltimore to add to his league leading of receptions the other way. The football gods will be good to all you Vikings fans in delivering a game to you that the Vikings need at the right time. Merry Christmas and no need to thank any of us Bears fan. Jay Cutler has been the gift to teams on the Bears schedule this year that have just kept on Giving and Giving. And isn't that what the season is all about?

  1. If the Vikings lay one more egg like they did last night and against Arizona, they can have themselves a nice omelet.

  2. do not despair my esteemed colleague, if you want to see you Bears and their new QB play their best game of the season, you better have your popcorn ready for next Monday night. The Vikings are in trouble, and another scathing blog is on its way.

  3. I have to agree with you Darren, and I am a Vikings fan. Just afraid that we are going to see a repeat performance in the playoffs. First round bye and out in the second. Hope I am wrong, but.......

  4. VSK Stilling Lurking....December 22, 2009 at 8:02 AM

Zigi's head must be spinning right now. Last week's confrontation between Favre and Childress might be the the torpedo that brings the ship down. Childress was a mid-level coach until he was able to land Favre. But was that such a great accomplishment? I personally think Favre wanted to come to Minnesota regardless of who the coach was. Winning/success is the ultimate revenge, you know. And now that he's in purple, we will get to experience the heartbreak he's brought to Packers and Jets fans. He's won a rediculous amount of awards, holds a ton of NFL records....but only won one Super Bowl. Something always seems to happen to him late in the season....maybe Childress' sideline altercation with "The Coach" is a sign that the end is near.

  5. Don't put too much of the blame on VSK, he did want to play and give the Packers the finger by playing for their biggest rival and beating them. The real blame has to go on Childress who just happened to get a BIG contract extension out of all this. Were Farve and Childress that good of friends to begin with? Was VSK just a pawn? We will know all by Easter. And now the purple faithful are stuck with a "offensive genius?" with a long term contract.

  6. Sadly, I fear a first round play-off loss with Vikings fans scratching their heads in January wondering what happened.

  7. Apparently, this isn't the first time Childress been upset with Favre. Reports says Favre has been changing the plays A LOT this season. That kind of descent tends to catch on with other players.
