The Capital City Baseball Association suspended its season two weeks ago in response to the flooding issues which have affected the communities of Pierre and Fort Pierre. Earlier this week, the CCBA board met and decided to move forward with a modified schedule that deals with the loss of five of the seven fields that the group uses for games. All CCBA teams will restart play next week and play through the end of July. Starting on Monday, June 13, the pee wee division (7 and 8 year olds) will play on two fields built on the grass lot south of Jefferson School. The minors division (9 and 10 year olds) will play all their games at the Riggs field. The majors division (11 and 12 year olds) will play all their games at LaBarge Park and the pony division (13 and 14 year olds) will play games at Hyde Stadium on dates that don’t conflict with the Post 8 program. Revised schedules for each division have been distributed to the teams and coaches in each division. The CCBA board decided to not hold end of season playoffs in the three upper divisions and decided to cancel the traditional BankWest majors division tournament this year. Anyone having questions or concerns can contact a CCBA board member.
