Yankton defeated Pierre 3-1 last night in high school volleyball. Yankton won the first set 25-17 before the Lady Govs came back to take game 2 25-22. But Yankton regained control with a 25-17 win in the third and a 25-11 fourth game win to clinch the match. Kelsy Fitzgerald led the Gazelles with 16 kills and 9 blocks with 2 of them being solo. Emily Fedders had 39 assists and Chloe Corneman had 4 aces and 16 digs. The Lady Govs were led by Kaitlin Severyn with 15 kills on the night. Ashley Polak had 17 assists and Tara Stout had 18 digs. The Lady Govs travel to Douglas for an afternoon match today.

The Pierre Governor golf team had a fourth place finish yesterday at the Huron Invitational won by Sioux Falls O'Gorman with a 299 team score. The Governors had a 320 team score. Willie Welch tied for fourth with a 75 for the Governors best score of the day. Zach Smalley finished in a 3 way tie for 6th with a 76 for the two place winners the Governors had on the day. The Governors travel to Aberdeen on Tuesday to play in a tournament.
