The Pierre Lady Governor soccer team lost their second consecutive match to start the season yesterday when they were beaten by Rapid City Central 4-1. Alexandra Sterling scored Pierre's lone goal in the 28th minute of the contest. The Governor boys also lost yesterday to Rapid City Central by a 2-1 score. The Governors went 0-1-1 on the weekend after a 1-1 tie in their season opener against Rapid City Stevens on Friday. Both Pierre squads have their home openers on Friday when they entertain Yankton. Brookings comes to Pierre for matches on Saturday at the Hilgers Gulch Soccer Fields.

The young Pierre Lady Governor tennis team opened their season yesterday going 1 and 2 in 3 duals against the 3 Sioux Falls public schools. The Lady Govs defeated Sioux Falls Lincoln 8-1 but lost to Sioux Falls Washington 6-3 and Sioux Falls Roosevelt as Pierre fell 7-2. Against Lincoln, the Lady Govs swept all 6 singles matches and won the number 1 and 3 doubles. In the loss to Roosevelt Pierre won the number 6 singles and number 1 doubles matches. And in their win over Washington, Pierre claimed victories at the number 3 and number 6 singles and number 3 doubles. The Lady Govs head to Rapid City next weekend.
