Pierre youth golfers continue to play well this summer in the South Dakota Golf Association's Austads Junior Golf Tour. Yesterday, at the Lake Region Golf Club at Arlington, Pierre's Karissa Guthrie won the girls 14-15 age division tournament firing an 86 to post a 5 shot victory over her nearest opponent. Katie Bartlett fired a 91 to finish in 2nd place in the girls 12-13 age division tournament. Bartlett finished 2 shots behind the leader. In the boys 12-13 age division tournament, Andrew Van Gerpen fired a 92 to finish 5th in the division. Connor Lonbakken had a 104. At the Spring Creek Golf Course in Harrisburg yesterday, Kade McTighe fired a 50 in the boys 11-12 age division tournament. That 50 was a 9 hole score. A third tournament at the Southern Hills Golf Course in Hot Springs was also played yesterday but no Pierre golfers were entered in that tournament.
The next scheduled monthly meeting of the Pierre Athletic Booster Club will be held this evening at 5:45 pm at Pier 347 in downtown Pierre. Plans for the Booster Clubs annual golf tournament scheduled for July 30th at Oahe Trails Golf Course north of Pierre will be finalized at the meeting. And, the booster club is still in need of a chairperson to take the Sports Book project. If any members are interested contact any of the current officers, or past chair Sara Hermanson.
