Pierre and Ft. Pierre's can't miss hockey team missed. Another non championship year for Pierre and Ft. Pierre winter athletics. A 3-2 overtime loss to Rushmore Saturday in the semi finals I am sure left another bitter taste in the mouth of Pierre and Ft. Pierre athletics. Number 1 seed, and set up for a run at the championship but unfortunatly like to many years, No chants of we're number 1 to be heard. Just like 2007 boys hockey. 2006 boys basketball. 2001 boys basketball and lets not forget 07, 08 and 09 girls basketball for Pierre. Same years for volleyball, not to mention Legon baseball in the first half of this decade. Now, there were 3 state track and field championships but track and field is not what you would call a team spectator sport. It was a very good thing. My point, they do not call the month of May, May Madness. So there is always next year.
