The Pierre Lady Govenor tennis team dropped a 6-3 dual to Mitchell yesterday. Abby Burke and Emily Dix won singles matches at the numer 3 and 5 flights and Dix and Kate Wald won the number 3 doubles match. Against Yankton, Pierre fell 5-4. Abby Burke won her second match of the day at number 3 singles and Audrey Wald took the number 6 singles match. Kayla Inman and Karlie Warne won the number 2 doubles match and Dix and Wald won their second match of the day at number 3 doubles. The Lady Govs dual Sioux Falls O'Gorman today in Sioux Falls.

The Pierre Governor golf team fired a 335 to finish in a tie for 4th with Spearfish at the Black Hills Invitational Golf Tournament played at the Boulder Canyon Country Club in Sturgis yesterday. Willie Welch fired a 77 to finish in a tie for fifth for the top individual score of the day for the Governors. Cash Anderson had the next best score for Pierre with an 83. Hans Leong came in with an 86, Drew Lief had an 89, Joey Beck a 92 and Mark Costello a 97 for the Governor scores on the day. Rapid City Stevens fired a 304 to win the tournament. Clay Kopplin of Sturgis had a 67 to win medalist honors.

The Pierre Governor football scored a touchdown in the final 1:48 to come from behind and defeat Aberdeen Central 13-12 last night for the Govs first win of the season. Quarterback Jerrid Nielan scored both of Pierre's touchdowns in the win as he rushed for over 120 yards. Nielans winning score was a 5 yard run to cap a 80 yard 10 play drive. Nielan also threw for 100 yards in the win. Pierre is 1-1 on the season and in the ESD Conference as they travel to Huron next Friday for their next game. Huron was beaten by Yankton 26-0 last night while Mitchell beat Brookings 44-20 and Brandon Valley downed Watertown 35-13.
