On Friday night, the Pierre Governor football team dropped a 34-14 contest at Brookings. The Bobcats scored the games first 14 points only to see the Governors come back with 14 points to tie the game at the half. Austin Wagner scampered 67 yards for the Governors first touchdown and sophomore quarterback Alex Gray, filling in for the injured Jarred Nielan who did not play due to a injury suffered in the Huron game, hit Lane Severyn on an 11 yard touchdown pass. But the second half became an offensive nightmare for the Governors who turned the ball over 5 times including a fumble and an interception on the Govs first two plays of the second half. Brookings turned both turnovers into points and scored 20 unanswered points in the second half. The Governors are 1 and 3 and host Mitchell for the Govs homecoming contest Friday night.

The Pierre Lady Governor volleyball team broke a 5 match losing streak by winning two matches on Saturday. The Lady Govs defeated Sturgis 3-1 by scores of 25-22, 19-25, 25-20, 25-9. Then the Lady Govs defeated Spearfish in a 3 game sweep by scores of 25-21, 25-19, 25-7. The Lady Govs are now 3 and 6 on the season as they host Mitchell Thursday night at Riggs High Gym.

The Pierre Lady Governor tennis team did not have a good day on the courts in Aberdeen losing all 3 duals at the Aberdeen Invitational. The Lady Govs were beaten 8-1 by Aberdeen Roncalli and then were shutout 9-0 by Aberdeen Central. Aubrey Wald won the only match for the Lady Govs against Aberdeen Central at the number 6 singles spot.

Rachel Probst finsihed 8th individually for the Pierre Lady Governor Cross Country team for Pierre's best finish in the girls division of the Clyde Cotton Invitational Cross Country meet hosted by Huron on Saturday. Probst finished the race in a time of 15:53. Rapid City Stevens won the girls division. Sioux Falls Roosevelt won the boys. Pierre did not have a runner finish in the top 10. Tyler Propst had a 15th place finish for the Govs lone place winner.
