Rapid City Stevens won the Pierre Invitational Girls Dual Tennis Tournament on Saturday defeating St. Thomas More 8-1 in the championship match. Aberdeen Central finished third with a 8-1 win over Watertown. Pierre finished 5th with a 5-4 win over Brandon Valley and Rapid City Central landed in 7th position with a win over Spearfish. For the weekend Stevens ended with a 5-0 record. Pierre defeated Rapid City Central 9-0 before downing Brandon Valley in the 5th place match. Pierre got wins from Eileen Leong at number 1 singles. Abby Burke at number 3 singles and Aubrey Wald at number 6 singles flight. They also got two doulbes win from Leong and Kate Wollman at number 1doubles and Kristin Inman and Karlie Warne at number 2 doubles.

The Pierre Governor golf team fired a 316 round to finish third at the ESD Conference Golf tournament Saturday at the Cattail Crossing Golf Course in Watertown. The Governors finished 11 shots behind tournament champion Brandon Valley. Watertown was next at 310. Zach Smalley fired a 74 to tie for third. Hans Leong also placed for the Governors with a round of 79 and Willie Welch also earned All ESD Conference honors for the Governors with an 81.

The Pierre Lady Governor volleyball team played well Saturday but lost in 4 games to Sioux Falls Washington last night. The Lady Govs won the first game 26-24 but dropped the next 3 games to Washington by scores of 11-25, 14-25 and 20-25. Kaitlin Severyn led the Lady Govs offense with 14 kills and four blocks. Taylor Hyde had 14 digs and 3 service aces and Ashley Polak finished with a team high 16 assists. The Lady Govs are now 3 and 7 on the season. Last night was the first non conference loss of the season for the Lady Govs.

Today is the final day of the season for racing at Oahe Speedway north of Pierre. Yesterday's winners inclluded Doug Engels of Watertown in the Stock-Super Stock Combo Division. Jeff Crooks of Brandon, Manitoba won the Super Group Shootout. In the Dragging for Pink finals, Jay Tjeerdsma of Springfield won the title. Jeri Vines of Eagle Butte, South Dakota won the No Box Shootout races while Roger Hopf of Madson took the Box Shootout. Doug Percy of Winner was the winner in the Trophy Shootout races. Austin Mohr of Mitchell captured the Junior Major Division and Jonathin Huse of Onida won the Junior Minor races.

The Pierre Governor soccer team lost their regular season finale to Watertown yesterday in the Governors homecoming match. The Governors dropped a 2-1 verdict to Watertown. The Governors finished the season 1-4 and 5 and in 12th place in the 13 team state high school league. The Lady Govs meanwhile, finished the regular season with an offensive explosion shutting out Watertown 8-0 to improve their record to 6-2-2 and 4th place in the league standings.
