The Pierre Lady Governor Volleyball team looks to rebound tonight when they host Huron in an ESD Conference match-up at Riggs High Gym. The Lady Govs are looking to bounce back from a 3-0 drubbing they took Tuesday night in Aberdeen. They are 1 and 2 on the season but 0 and 2 in ESD play. Huron is 0-1 after getting swept in 3 games by Yankton on Saturday in their only match of the season so far. Varsity match is scheduled to begin at 7 pm.

The Stanley County Lady Buffalo Volleyball team is still in search of their first win of the season tonight when they host Gregory at Parkview Gym. The Lady Buffalos are coming off a 3-0 loss to Chamberlain on Tuesday night and are 0 and 2 on the season. The Varsity match is scheduled for approximatly 7:30 pm tonight.

The Pierre Governor and Lady Governor Cross Country teams open their season today. The Govs and Lady Govs will travel to Brandon to compete in the Brandon Valley Invitational this afternoon. This is the first time that Pierre has competed in the Brandon Valley Invitational that is being run on the same course that will host the ESD Conference Cross Country meet later this fall. The JV and Varsity meet is scheduled to begin at 4 pm.

"The Jackrabbit Insider," a weekly television program featuring South Dakota State University Athletics, will return for its third season this weekend. The half-hour show, hosted by Pierre native Tyler Merriam, will air locally at 10:30 p.m. Sunday nights on Sioux Falls-based KTTW Fox 7, starting on Sept. 4, and will feature highlights, student-athlete features and interviews with Jackrabbit coaches and administrators.

Mixed martial artists from a four-state region will descend on Eagle Butte’s CRST Labor Day Fair and Rodeo this Saturday, beginning at 6 p.m. Male and female combatants from South Dakota, North Dakota, Montana and Nebraska are scheduled to be in attendance at the Warriors Challenge.
