Rod's Sunday Morning Sports Things

The Pierre Lady Governors shot a 359 to finish 4th at the ESD Conference Girls Golf tournament on Saturday in Mitchell. Yankton won the team title with a 341. Hallie Getz shot an 84 to finish 6th for the highest individual placement for Pierre. Paige Erickson shot an 89 to finish in a 6 way tie for 12th. Karissa Guthrie had a 92 to tie for 19th. Katie Bartlett shot a 94. Paige Lonbakken had a 97 and Tatum Richards shot a 104.

Parker McKittrick won the 110 meter high hurdles for Pierre’s only first place finish at the Howard Wood Dakota Relays Saturday in Sioux Falls. McKittrick won the event in a time of :14.34. He finished 4th in the 300 meter hurdles. Gena Burley finished 4th for the Lady Govs in the High Jump clearing 5 feet 4 inches. Austin Lemieux cleared 13 feet to finish 7th in the Pole Vault and a couple of Pierre relay teams finished 5th in the 1600 meter Sprint Medley Relay in 3:38.89 and 8th in the 4x800 meter relay in 8:26.55.

At the Georgia Morse Middle School track meet on Tuesday Pierre 8th grader Caelie Williams broke the middle school high jump record of 1989. Caelie jumped 5'0. The previous record was 4'9.

The Pierre Post 8 Baseball organization is proud to offer the first ever 300+ recipe cookbook compiled, composed, and published by the families, friends, and fans of Post 8 baseball! This first time fund raiser is sure to be a "hit" with all cookbook and recipe collectors. Pick up your copy Tuesday night, May 10, at the American Legion cabin from 5:00pm to 7:00pm. Can't make it Tuesday? Books will also be available at Hyde Stadium and throughout town a $10 per copy. All proceeds go directly to the Post 8 baseball organization.
