Pierre Post 8 Baseball head coach Bob Sullivan and his American Legion team players will be hosting the annual camp for Little League players again this spring. The two-day camp will be today and tomorrow afternoon from 1 to 5 p.m. both days at the CCBA compleX at the Oahe Softball Complex. Late registrations will be taken with sign in beginning at 12:15 pm. There is a $45 late registration fee.

The South Dakota High School Activities Associations' Boy' and Girls' State High School Track and Field Meet will be held tomorrow and Saturday in Sioux Falls, Brandon, and Madison. Preliminary events will be held on Friday, May 27th at three sites. The Class "B" preliminaries will be held at Sioux Falls – Howard Wood Stadium, the Class "A" prelims at Madison, and the Class "AA" prelims at Brandon. Final events for all three classes are scheduled in Sioux Falls on Saturday. A total of 2440 boys and girls have qualified to compete at this two-day event representing 151 member schools. Pierre has 22 girls and 18 boys entered in the state meet.

The West River Jackrabbit boosters is organizing a bus for the South Dakota State at University of Illnois football game on Saturday, September 10th in Champaigne, Illinois. The Pierre Governor boys basketball camp is scheduled for next week at Riggs High Gym. The dates for the camps will be Tuesday, May 31st thru Friday, June 3rd with the elementary camp running from 9 am to 11:30 am. The Middle School Camp will run from 1 to 3:30 pm and the high school camp will go from 5 to 8 pm all 4 days. Cost of the camp is $50 and you can register for the camps through the Pierre Park and Recreation website at www.pierreparkandrec.com. Pierre Governor head boys basketball coach Terry Becker is in charge of the camp.

The local Hershey Track Meet will be held Saturday June 4, 9:00am at Hollister Field.  Registration forms can be found in the Summer Activities Guide or participants can register on-line at http://www.hersheystrackandfield.com.    Registration deadline is Monday May 30 at 5:00pm.  The meet is for children ages 9-14 and is the qualifying event for the state meet which will also be held in Pierre.  Registrations can be dropped off at the Recreation Office at the Aquatic Center, City Hall or mailed to 222 E. And Oahe Speedway kicks off its Armed Forces Appreciation Weekend tomorrow with racing action continuing on through Monday afternoon.  In honor of all our veterans, active service, and retired military personnel will be admitted free, all weekend, as we celebrate Armed Forces Appreciation Weekend at Oahe Speedway. The first Street Legal races of the season will be held tomorrow with on track action begins at 6pm and will continue until dark.  Shootout races are scheduled for Saturday and Coca Cola Points Series races number 3 and 4 will be held Sunday and Monday at the Speedway located 14 miles north of Pierre on Highway 1804.
