The Pierre Governor Tennis team finished 2nd in the Rapid City Invitational tournament yesterday that was won by Sioux Falls O'Gorman which won all 6 singles and all 3 doubles titles. The Governors had a good tournament though scoring 195.5 points to O'Gormans 300. Rapid City Stevens had a 185.5 score to finish 3rd. Connor Forney finished runner up at number 1 singles losing in the championship match. Nathan Ellenbecker also got to the championship of number 3 singles before losing. On Friday night, Forney and Hans Leong at number 1 doubles got to the championshp match before losing. Pierre host Rapid City Stevens in an important dual on Tuesday at the Griffin Park Courts. Pierre is rated number 5 in the latest tennis rankings and Stevens is ranked number 4. The second place finish in the Rapid City tournament was the highest finish for a Governor team since Jeff Schlekeway became head coach.
Both Track and Field meets that the Governors and Lady Governors were scheduled to compete in yesterday were called off due to the weather. The Aberdeen Hub City Invitational has not been rescheduled. The Black Hills Relays in Sturgis will be run on Tuesday.
The Lady Gov golf team will play in the Sioux Falls Invitational girls golf tournament tomorrow at Willow Run as they prepare for the ESD tournament that will be golfed next Saturday at the Lakeview Golf Course in Mitchell. Coach John Knox was planning on having his players play a round in Mitchell once again today as they head to Sioux Falls for tomorrow mornings tournament. But they may go to Sioux Falls and play a practice round at Willow Run also.

FYI - The Aberdeen track meet on Saturday (April 30th) did get underway and they completed several events before the meet was ultimately called due to the weather. Pierre had three kids place in the meet: Cattibrie Riggle took 4th in the discus; Kristi Hestadalen got 2nd in the long jump; and Nate Buscher took 1st in the high jump.
