And that is the season..Rod

Impressive pitching last night ended Pierre Legion baseball season. Spearfish's Allen Hemeyer is as good a righthander as Post 8 has seen. Brandon Rainforth of Post 320 showed that he is back from his Tommy John surgery. What an uncermoniusly way to end the season, getting no hit by a pair of Post 320 pitchers. And the only reason it wasn't a perfect game is because the rightfielder dropped a fly ball. And 8 errors in two games did not help our cause. So the season is over. 25-25 is the record and rightfully so. By the way, Post 320, which always moans that they get no respect in Rapid City and around the Legion ranks in South Dakota showed again last night why. With an 11-0 lead, they are stealing bases. With a 14-0 lead they are bunting! Two unwritten laws of the game you don't do. And that is the stuff that keeps you second fiddle in your city and the state. You can talk about saving on your pitching. The way the game was going, they could of just hit the runners around anyway. But to give them credit, they eliminated us from the region tournament for a second straight year and the have been to more legion state tournaments in the last five years than we have. Perhaps, that number of theirs that those of us in Pierre think we have, we no longer have.
