The baseball people of Pierre are probably sitting back and saying I told you so. It's the post season and more times than not, Pierre has Rapid City Post 320's number! No argument for last night anyway. All 9 guys get a hit. Jordan Heckenlaible gets 3. Nolan Merrill and Ryan Yackley just absolutley pounded the ball in that big 6 run inning and Kyle Cichos pitched awfully well again, but again, still a question mark as to if he can make it 9 innings. He went 8 last night and the 8th inning was a huge change as to what I had seen the first 7 even though he did strike out the side in the 8th. But then again, he had a 9 run lead so there was some wiggle room. But I hope we are not patting ourselves on the back to much. Spearfish will pitch Allen Hemeier tonight. He was the kid that Pierre beat 2-1 in 10 innings in Pierre and we did not really touch him all night. He made a bone head decision and a bad throw on a pickoff in the 10th. You lose that one, then you probably have to play Post 320 again. There is alot riding on the Spearfish game and another chance for 16 year old Ryan Yackley to show his stuff. And the Pierre batting lineup to see if last night was for real or one of those games.
I also understand I will get to broadcast outside in 90 degree heat on the pavement and metal. The Deadwood Radio boys have the radio broadcast spot locked up. Last night there were 3 of us doing games in that same spot. Guess we might have to remember next time the Hyde Press Box gets to be filling up.
