Another convincing win for the Pierre Rattlers last night. 15-0 in 5 innings over Winner although Pierre General Manager Tom Magedanz said that Winner was short a couple of players and pulled an emergency player, rightfielder John Driscoll, into service. I was doing the PA last night and Rick LaBrie, whose son Jordan plays on the Rattlers, was running the scoreboard. Said he went to school with John who was a pretty good track athlete in his day. But rest assured, Winner was better than they showed last night. Tyson Lidekugel hit another home run, his 5th in 5 games and 10th of the season. Michael Gardner pitched 4 innings. Dalton Decker pitched the 5th and the two combined to strike out the last 6 batters they faced. So Winner's final 6 outs were all by strike outs. Tom says next Saturday, the 25th when Pierre goes to Valley Springs for a noon game against 4th ranked Brandon Valley and then a 6 p.m. game in Mitchell will be a better guage as to where the Rattlers are. As a matter of fact, their final home game is Monday against 4 Corners at 8 p.m. at Hyde Stadium. 4 Corners split with them back on Memorial Day and has put a pretty good season together so it has the makings of a pretty good game with several Post 8 Legion baseball alum facing off against each other.
And a busy Hyde Stadium this week with the Joe Kirley tournament with the 13-14 Teeners and B Teeners hosting teams from Rapid City Post 22 (the Cadets 13-14 crew and the Bullets who are coached by Pierre's own Tyler Merriam) and then the two Watertown Teener teams. 4 games each day beginning at noon today and tomorrow, 10 a.m. Sunday. You can get the schedule off the Post 8 baseball website www.post8baseball.com.
