I overestimated Sioux Falls West pitching, did not give enough credit to Rapid City Post 22 and their home field advantage. But I think I got R.C. Post 320 about right. In an earlier post I said that Post 320 would do something stupid to cost them. How about giving up 34 runs, in a single game!!!! But they did beat Post 22 finally, so what are they now, 16-1 all time against their across the parking lot foes. I don't think to many people are quite ready yet to name Post 320, Rapid City's team.
And, I think I mentioned in an earlier post that there would be some complaints in this weekend's State AA Teener tournament in Pierre that Pierre will be using 3 Teener players who played a majority and started for the Post 8 Legion squad. Watertown is the number 1 seed. Pierre will be number 2. Watertown, which was the driving force to get the rule on the books that players could be on both Legion and Teener rosters to play in the state tournament, apparently/alledgedly, however you want to phrase it, is now questioning Pierre using Adam Deneke, Scott Cichos and Ryan Yackley. The "intent" of the rule is the key question that may be brought up. Unless the rule that was passed at the State VFW Teener meeting list the word "intent", and is specfic in stating that players can not start for both Legion and Teener teams, let the Pierre players play, which they will. I would fully expect this situation to be addressed again before next year especially if Pierre beats Watertown in the tournament. And I would not be surprised if this subject comes up before this weekend. What will the VFW do? Remember, Pierre and Mitchell voted against it at the winter meeting but all the others in attendance did. Ah yes. The Wild and Wacky World of VFW Teener baseball. Never a dull moment.
