Rod's Wednesday Ramblings 8/19/09

OK, I would not make a good pro sports general manager. After what I said yesterday about Derrick Lee and Aramiz Ramirez of the Chicago Cubs and they are not hitting so I would get rid of them. All they did last night is get on base nearly everytime they were up and Lee smacked the ball around pretty well, so today I would be re retrieving them off of the waiver wire.

As far as the Vikings and Brett "Favreulous" is concerned, if Brad Childress thought the pressure to win was pretty intense last year, just wait. It would only take one injury in the line and one injury to Adrian Peterson to make Brett "Favreulous" an average Joe. And the way Childress likes to overcoach his team right into a loss, it may take only an injury to Peterson.

And the Governor golf team is ready to go as they open their season tomorrow at Spearfish Canyon Country Club and Friday at Meadowbrook in Rapid City. They held a 54 hole qualifier to determine the top 6 golfers for later this week. Lots of varsity experience. Miles Schock, Seth Stadel, Jacob Greenhagen, Zach Smalley, Willie Welch and John Breckinridge will tee it up. Monday is the Sioux Falls Invitational. It won't be played at Fox Run as it has in the past. It is at Prairie Green this year. Tuesday is the Pierre Invitational at Hillsview. So in just 6 days, 1/4 of the season will be golfed. If I can get the scores, I will try to keep you updated here. Same for girls tennis. Pierre opens against the 3 Sioux Falls public schools on Saturday.

  1. I'm waiting for all the dropped passes because the receivers have never had to catch balls at the speed Favre throws. If Adrian Peterson gets another 363 touches this year, there is a good chance be he'll get dinged up for part of the season. If they lose him for any part of the season, there isn't anyone to back him up. Could be a long year.

  2. Favre threw 22 TD's last year. But he also threw 22 picks. Not even Walter Payton was good enough to compensate for those kinds of stats. FRAN TARKENTON AND BUD GRANT WHERE ARE YOU?! Oh yeah, at last report Fran was on the radio complaining about how Favre has disrepected the game. More distractions we don't need!!!
