Rod's Thursday Ramblings 8/20/09
The more I listen and read about the Brett Favreulous era beginning in Minnesota, the more I have come to the conclusion that Brad Childress has sold his soul for the possibility of a championship run. He knows that this season is "the" season for him. They make a run at the championship, he is gainfully employed next year. The (being the Vikings) don't make the post season or a first round exit, and he is looking for a new job. Zigi Wilf did not pay Favreulous 25 million over two years or 10-12 for this year for a "Close but not quite season". Childress, who has been the staunchest supporter of Tavaris Jackson the last two years was either told to give in, or gave in to the Favreulous mess. So much for hard work and loyalty Tavaris. Look where it will probably land you. Perhaps as a backup for the Bengals!!!!

Now we get a couple years of Brett, then who, I'm sure by then Jackson will have moved on or the Vikes will be looking for "the next franchise quarterback". This was such a mistake. Minnesota hasn't has had only three QBs that lasted more than 2 years, Tarkenton, Kramer, and (the much over-rated) Culpepper. When you look at it, this club has always made STUPID decisions with the QB position. Stop hiring journeyman quarterbacks and start trading up in the draft so we can draft a good prospect to build the offense around. Then, build the team...not that hard!
ReplyDeleteHow high was Tavaris Jackson drafted? #7 or something, wasn't it? Isn't that a good enough prospect to build the offense around? I think we've seen the answer to that so far. :)
ReplyDeleteT-J was drafted #64 overall.....that's dead last in the second round. The Viking's 4th selection.
