I would not make a very good professional sports general manager or owner. I would have a tendency to clean house a couple or 3 times a year. If I were GMing the Cubs and got the OK from ownership. Here is who would be gone. Derrick Lee (he is getting old and can't hit for power anymore) Aramis Ramirez (he always finds a way to injure himself just when he gets things going and then he has to sit and start over) Alphonso Soriano and Milton Bradley (both are not very smart and aren't hitting) Kevin Gregg (He can't get anybody out when he absolutly has to) Aaron Miles (he doesn't hit and his fielding is suspect) It's hard to pick a starting pitcher cause they all have done pretty well but when you go out and think you have to throw a shutout every time because the offense is pathetic it's tough to win in the major leagues. I'd keep Carlos Marmol because as sure is a day is 24 hours long, if you let him go the Cardinals would pick him up and he would come back and shutdown the Cubs 18 times a year. And I have one correction from yesterday. A dome dog and a small soda at the Metrodome was $9.50 and not $9. I found two quarters in my pocket yesterday and remembered it was change from Saturday. Sorry if I mislead anyone.
And on another note. Sully Buttes sports took a hit. Ryan Yackley, who was starting guard on the state champion basketball team last week has enrolled at Mitchell High School and will play for Gary Munson and the boys this winter and also play spring baseball in Mitchell. Hope that all of us in Pierre give Ryan a good old welcome home he will remember when Mitchell plays here this winter. Not sure what his Legion baseball status in Pierre for next summer will be or if he will just stay and play in Mitchell, but I would venture to say that Dave Ploof in Rapid City will be watching carefully and may very well determine where he plays.
