Darren Boyle's weekly words of wisdom "the adventures of VSK and the inevitable showdown with the cheeseheads"

OK this day has been circled for quite some time, as soon as VSK signed with the Vikes all the so called "experts" who get paid to follow sports pointed to this day and said this will be the true test of the Vikes. To me it would be like if I was to sell a new "green" tractor, Or if I began a steady diet of chicken, or if I broadcast games for another group of radio stations. To some I would forever be a traitor, others would say I am just doing it for the money. It could be said that both sides are right, just like they are in their opinion of VSK. but lets take a closer look at this whole saga and where it began. VSK was put on the spot by the management of the Packers, they in fact said they were NOT interested in having one of the 10 greatest QBs of all time on their roster. What if you were middle aged and was told you were being replaced by a much younger but unproven version of you. Wouldnt you have a fire to continue your career? Wouldnt you try to get a job with the biggest competitor? That is exactly what VSK has done, he is trying his best to stick it too the cheeseheads. There are several things to watch tonight, first of all will VSK be able to play within the limits of his 40 year old body? What strategy will the Packers defense use? Stop AP or stop VSK? How many times VSK will get hit early in the game will be something to watch as well. And what about Aaron Rodgers? Is he the innocent victim or master manipulator of the whole VSK saga. Dont think he isnt under some pressure tonight, and what he does early will have some major bearing on how things play out tonight and for the rest of the season. I would rather be planting wheat but since it rained I will achieve full recliner pilot status for tonights game. This, without a doubt will be on of ESPN's highest rated broadcasts ever, too bad their announcing crew isnt better, but at least it isnt Phil Simms and Jim Nantz. The Lyman Raiders were impressive in their win over Jones County last Saturday. They should be able to hold on to the #1 ranking in 9AA when the polls come out tomorrow. This Friday's Lyman vs Philip game will be one of the best games of the week, with the winner having the inside track on playing indoors in November. The thing that I am impressed with is the size of the Raiders, that always comes in handy when the weather gets bad during the playoffs. I think there are quite a few teams around our area that should be able to go deep into the playoffs this year and that is good to see.
