Darren Boyle's weekly words of wisdom "hey who put the salt in the kool-aid?"
If you think about yesterday's win for the Vikings, you would almost wish that they had lost. Using up all their good luck so early in the season isnt a good thing, especially with all the road games left on the schedule. What was the deal any way? The Vikings took off like a rocket and got a big lead and then found out they couldnt control the clock by running the ball. Then the defense got beat up and tired. The loss of Antione Winfield hurt more than you realize and if he cant go vs. the steelers, expect the Vikes to get their first "L" of the year. Jared Allen was for the most part neutralized and the Ravens ran a ton of screen plays toward his side that were successful. And you know who (VSK) had to save the Vikings again. Is everything gloom and doom in the purple kingdom? Absolutely not, the Giants lost yesterday, that will help in the quest for home field. The Saints will almost certaintly rediscover their lack of defense and who else in the NFC is going to win12 games? I believe that it will take at least 12 wins to have home field through the playoffs. The high school football playoffs are starting to take shape, Lyman appears to have have secured the #1 seed in 9AA as expected. Sully Buttes' loss to a very good Herried-Selby team really shouldnt hurt them too much and Gettysburg and Jones County locked down spots with wins last Friday night. The power ratings havent been released by the SDHSAA at the time I did this post but there quite a few other teams from the area on the proverbial playoff "bubble". There has been some GREAT football played by our area teams this season. The regular season wraps up Thursday and round one of the playoffs is one week from tomorrow. Let's hope the weather straightens out so we have some decent conditions for the playoffs.
