The Pierre Post 8 American Legion baseball team won twice yesterday during the opening day of the Koester Memorial tournament in Pierre. Pierre defeated Valley Springs 10-2 and then recorded a walk off 14-13 win over Mandan, N.D. Pierre can win the title of the Koester tournament with a victory over Winner this afternoon at approximatly 2:30 pm. It will be the final home game for head coach Bob Sullivan who is leaving the program at the end of the season.

The Pierre 13-14 Teener bassball team won twice in the first day of a tournament in Aberdeen. Pierre defeated Brookings 7-3 and Aberdeen 9-6 in games yesterday. The win over Aberdeen was the first in 5 trys this season for Pierre. Pierre faces Brookings and Groton in games today at the tournament.

The Pierre White 15-16 Teener baseball team's doubleheader scheduled to be played at Huron last night was cancelled as Huron apparenlty scheduled to many games? Leave it to Huron is all I can say.

Pierre golfers Taylor Smalley and Hallie Getz were both beaten in the first round of the South Dakota State Women's Match Play championshp tournament yesterday in Brandon at the Brandon Valley County Club. Smalley was beaten by Paige Osterloo 4 and 3. Getz was defeated by Kelli Sinkson of the Northern Links Golf Club 2 and 1.
