Pierre Lady Governor head tennis coach Jeff Bloomberg will be honored by the South Dakota Tennis Association next Saturday in Sioux Falls. Bloomberg will be given the South Dakota Tennis Achievement Award. Along with being the head coach of the Lady Govs, Bloomberg has been the head of the Pierre Tennis Association and has been the tournament director of the Capital City Open Tennis tournament in the summer among others. The induction ceremony begins at noon and is preceded by a brunch/reception at 10:30 at McKennon Park in Sioux Falls.
The Pierre 13-14 Teener baseball team is 1-0 in the Joe Kirley Memorial baseball tournament at Hyde Stadium. Pierre defeated Aberdeen 10-2 on the 8 run rule after 5 innings last night. It was Pierre's second consecutive win over Aberdeen after beating them in their own tournament last weekend. Pierre plays Rapid City Post 22 Cadets and Watertown in games that are scheduled to begin around 5 pm this afternoon.
