The Pierre Post 8 American Legion baseball team will end it's regular season tonight on the road when they travel to Aberdeen for a doubleheader against the Aberdeen Smittys. Post 8 takes a 6 game winning streak into tonight's double dip at Fossum Field. Post 8 is 2 and 2 this season against Aberdeen but they have not played each other since the Yankton tournament in early June. First pitch of game one is scheduled for 5:30 pm.

The Pierre Post 8 Split Squad baseball team is at Hyde Stadium tonight as they entertain the Rapid City Post 320 Shootng Stars. First pitch for game one is scheduled at 5:30 pm. The Pierre White 15-16 Teener baseball team will not travel to Aberdeen today to play Aberdeen in a doubleheader. The field that the games were going to be played on are unplayable due to recent rain fall in the Aberdeen area. The doubleheader has been rescheduled for July 24th. Also the Pierre Green 15-16 baseball team defeated Webster 14-3 yesterday. Drew Leif was the winning pitcher for the Green squad.

The Pierre Rattlers amatuer baseball team had their game with Four Corners scheduled at Hyde Stadium last night rained out. It is not known if the game will be rescheduled. The Rattlers, 4 and 7 on the season are scheduled to go to Rapid City to play a doubleheader Saturday, but Rapid City cancelled their scheduled trip to Pierre last month. Otherwise, Pierre host Miller next Wednesday for their next game.

In conjunction with Sanchez Productions and the State 1-2-3 Theater of Pierre, the Oahe Hockey Association presents "Oahe Capitals, The Dream Season", a fundraiser and movie tribute to the first Varsity State Hockey Champions in Pierre-Ft. Pierre.  There will be showings on Saturday July 23, 2011 at 11:00 am at the State Theater of Pierre. A second showing will take place Saturday July 30, 2011 at 11:00 am. Admission is a free-will donation, which will be divided between flood relief and the Oahe Hockey Association.

The Midwest Wild Bunch will be running at Oahe Speedway north of Pierre this weekend. Along with the Wild Bunch running both Saturday and Sunday, No Box, Box, Trophy and Junior Shootout races will be run on Saturday at the track along with the first annual Bike / Drag Sled Run for the Money races. Qualifying begins at 1 pm with Elimination Rounds beginning at 5 pm. Sunday features the finals of the Midwest Wild Bunch races and the 7th Coca Cola Points Series races. Qualifying begins at 9 am for the Coca Cola Points Series races and 11 am for the Midwest Wild Bunch. Finals for both categories is scheduled to begin at 1 pm. Oahe Speedway is located some 15 miles north of Pierre along Highway 1804.

Pierre swimmers have been busy competing in meets this month. PST swimmers have swam in meets in Huron, Mitchell, Yankton and Rapid City. The top performer at the Huron meet June 25th and 26th was Caleb Huizenga in the 9-10 boys divison with 3 first place finishes in 6 events. In the Mitchell meet July 1st through the 3rd, Madison Hyde had the only first place finish in the girls 11-12 age division. In Yankton JUne 24 and 25, Talia Jorgenson had 7 first place finishes in 7 events in the girls 9-10 age group while Tessa Jorgenson had one first place finish in 5 events in the girls 7-8 age division. And in Rapid City Ashley Theobold had 4 first place finishes in 9 events in the girls 11-12 age division and Talia Jorgenson had 2 first place finishes in 9 events in the 9-10 girls age group. Congratulations to all of the Pierre swimmers.
