Significant changes could be coming to class “B” American Legion baseball next year. State athletic chair Dan Sudbeck says all of the “B” coaches responding to a survey favor the changes, designed to lengthen the season. If implemented, the “B” champion would not qualify for the “A” state tournament – rather, the “B” state tourney would be held the weekend after the “A”. But Sudbeck says a “B” team would still have the option to play for the “A” championship if it so chooses. Sudbeck says the state commission may experiment with the changes for a couple of years – and if it is not satisfactory, the current system could be restored.
