A former head boys basketball coach for the Harrold Cardinals passed away at his home this week. Dennis Bauer was the head coach of the Harrold Cardinals in 1992 when they defeated Warner in one of the most memorable Class B Boys Basketball Tournament championship games ever played. (I had a chance to broadcast that State B with Roger Gilmore when I first started at KGFX and it is still the greatest high school basketball game I have been involved with to date. Harrold was down 13 points with just over a minute to go and they wound up winning by 6 points or so). In over 20 years of coaching, Bauer amassed over 200 career wins, one region, three district and one State Title. Bauer was 57 years old.
